Dido was commissioned by the [German Opera] in Berlin in collaboration with [Tischlerei Magazine].
The series __emerged from a conversation__
with composer [Michael Hirsch] at the Accordion Brush Center in Steglitz, Berlin, and offers a __personal interpretation of Dido and Aeneas__. Produced during the final days of 2016, the work became inseparable from subsequent events: __Hirsch died unexpectedly__ only weeks later during rehearsals for his opera DIDO, which remained unperformed.
During the conversation, Hirsch described his adaptation as being less concerned with the relationship between Dido and Aeneas than with __the condition that follows departure__, the experience of an __ending__ itself.
Viewed in retrospect, the series carries an unforeseen correspondence, preserving a sense of absence that would soon extend beyond the opera into lived reality.
